Yoni steaming is one of the oldest forms of feminine self-care known across cultures, a gentle, intentional practice of allowing herbal steam to rise toward the pelvic region. This page is here to answer your questions, support your preparation, and help you arrive to your session feeling informed and at ease.
A practice with Deep Roots
Yoni steaming is not a trend. It is not a wellness fad born in a spa. It is one of humanity's oldest forms of feminine medicine, a practice so intuitive, so rooted in reverence for the womb, that it emerged independently across vastly different cultures on nearly every continent. Long before it had a name in the Western world, women were gathering around pots of steaming water and medicinal herbs, tending to their bodies with the same wisdom passed down from mothers and grandmothers for generations.
The word "yoni" comes from Sanskrit, the ancient sacred language of South Asia, and carries meanings of womb, source, origin, and sacred passage. It honors the yoni not merely as a physical location in the body, but as a seat of creative power, life force, and feminine wisdom. This framing, of the womb as something worthy of honor and active care, is one shared across traditions, even when the names and rituals differ.
Understanding where this practice comes from matters, not as a history lesson, but as a reminder that when you sit over the steam, you are joining an unbroken lineage of women who trusted their bodies, honored their cycles, and understood that healing is both physical and sacred.
The fact that this practice developed independently across so many unconnected cultures is itself profound. It speaks to something women have always known intuitively, that the womb benefits from warmth, from intention, and from the healing intelligence of plants.
Why Women Steam
Every woman's reasons for steaming are her own. Some come seeking physical support; others come for spiritual grounding or emotional release. Here are some of the most commonly shared intentions:
Menstrual support
May help ease cramping, reduce bloating, and support a more comfortable cycle.
Postpartum recovery
Traditionally used to support healing and restoration of the womb after birth.
Hormonal balance
Supports the body's natural rhythms, especially during perimenopause or irregular cycles.
Pelvic tension relief
The warmth and herbs work together to soften and relax the pelvic floor.
Emotional Relief
Many women carry unexpressed emotion in the womb space. Steaming creates space to soften and let go.
Sacred Reconnection
A ritual of honoring the body, especially meaningful during life transitions.

What Women Experience
Is yoni steaming right for you?
Yoni steaming is generally safe and deeply beneficial for most women. However, there are some conditions where steaming is not recommended. Please read through the following before booking:
Please do not steam if you are:
· Pregnant or trying to conceive in your fertile window
· Currently menstruating (wait until your flow has fully stopped)
· Experiencing an active infection, open wounds, or sores in the vaginal area
· Running a fever
· Immediately postpartum (within the first 6 weeks, please wait and consult your provider)
· Using an IUD (some practitioners advise caution, consult your provider)
· Allergic to any of the herbs being used
If you have any medical conditions affecting the reproductive system, such as fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS, or ovarian cysts, please consult with your healthcare provider before your first steam. Many women with these conditions steam safely and find great relief, but it is important to proceed with awareness.

Getting ready for your session
A little preparation goes a long way toward making your experience as nourishing as possible. Here is what I recommend:
1 Choose a quiet, private space. Select a comfortable area in your home where you can relax undisturbed for at least 60 minutes. Your bedroom, bathroom, or a cozy corner works beautifully.
2. Have a clean towel available. There is a Yoni steam gown provided. Please be Freshly showered. Please skip underwear during the steam itself.
3. Hydrate and eat lightly before hand. Drink plenty of water before your session and avoid a heavy meal in the hour or two prior. You want to feel relaxed and comfortable, not full.
4. Set an intention. Take a few moments before I arrive to settle your mind. Light a candle, breathe deeply, or simply sit in stillness. Coming with an open heart makes all the difference.
5. Plan for rest afterwardHonor your body by keeping the rest of your day gentle. Avoid strenuous activity, cold exposure, or sexual intercourse for at least 24 hours after steaming.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt? No. A properly prepared yoni steam should feel warm and comfortable never hot or burning. I carefully monitor the temperature before and during your session to ensure your safety and comfort at all times.
How often should I steam? This varies based on your body and intention. Once or twice a month, typically a few days before your cycle begins, or after, is a gentle, supportive rhythm for most women. During times of deeper healing, more frequent sessions may be recommended after consultation.
Is it the same as a medical vaginal treatment? No. Yoni steaming is a traditional wellness practice, not a medical treatment. I am not a medical provider. If you have specific health concerns, please consult your gynecologist or healthcare provider in addition to exploring this practice.
How long does the steam last? The steam itself typically lasts 20–30 minutes. Your full session, including our consultation and setup, is approximately 60 minutes total.
Will it affect my menstrual cycle? It can, in supportive ways. Many women report a lighter, more comfortable period in the month following a steam. Some notice spotting or a slightly earlier cycle after their first session, this is normal and typically resolves.
What should I expect to feel afterward? Most women feel deeply relaxed, warm, and at ease. Some experience emotional release during or after the session, this is welcome and completely normal. You may also notice increased vaginal discharge in the days following, which is the body's natural response to the cleansing process.
